Absheron
Land of eternal flames and ancient fire worship
About This Tour
The Absheron Peninsula is the historic heartland of Azerbaijan — Land of Fire. Ateshgah Fire Temple, once a pilgrimage site for Zoroastrian, Hindu, and Sikh worshippers, burned for centuries on natural gas seeping from the earth. Nearby Yanar Dag (Burning Mountain) has blazed continuously for decades. Combined with medieval Ramana Castle and the serene Mardakan Palace, Absheron offers a uniquely mystical day away from Baku.
